About the Mixteco Language

Mixteco (Mixtec) is a group of related Mesoamerican languages spoken by around 500,000 people in southern Mexico — primarily Oaxaca, Guerrero, and Puebla states. There are dozens of distinct Mixtec varieties, sometimes mutually unintelligible. Significant Mixtec migration to the United States has established communities in California's Central Valley (particularly Fresno and Madera), Oregon, and parts of Florida. Our Mixteco translation work is mostly USCIS asylum and immigration paperwork, alongside the agricultural-labour and healthcare paperwork that comes with Oaxacan migration.

  • Primary regions: Mexico
