The US Malayalam-speaking community is one of the most distinctive Indian-American populations — heavily concentrated in healthcare and nursing, particularly in New York, New Jersey, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, and Atlanta. The community traces back to Kerala's large nursing-export tradition that began in the 1960s.
