View transcription service →Irish — also called Irish Gaelic or Gaeilge — is the first official language of Ireland, though English is the dominant everyday language. Around 1.8 million people claim some Irish ability, with roughly 70,000 daily speakers concentrated in Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) regions on the west coast. The Irish-American community is one of the largest ancestry groups in the United States, but very few are active Irish speakers. Our Irish translation work is mostly cultural and genealogical — Irish-language birth, marriage, and church records for descendants applying for Irish citizenship by descent, plus the occasional Gaeltacht-area document or cultural-association paperwork.
