Around 600 million people speak it, including roughly 900,000 in the United States — concentrated in New Jersey (Edison, Jersey City), the San Francisco Bay Area, Houston, Dallas, and Chicago. Most of the Hindi translation work we handle is for USCIS — birth, marriage, and educational certificates for green-card applications and family-reunification cases — and for US universities accrediting Indian degrees. Hindi is written in Devanagari, the same script used for Sanskrit, Marathi, and Nepali, and the formal vocabulary draws heavily from Sanskrit roots.
