About the Danish Language

Danish is the official language of Denmark, the Faroe Islands, and a national language of Greenland, with around 6 million speakers. It's the most phonetically reduced of the mainland Scandinavian languages — written Danish is largely intelligible to Swedish and Norwegian speakers, but the spoken language can be challenging even for them. The Danish-American community is small and concentrated in Iowa, Nebraska, Utah, and California. Most of our Danish translation work is genealogy (Danish church and civil records for descendants), Danish business contracts tied to Maersk, Lego, and pharmaceutical sectors, and the occasional academic transcript.
